If you’re a fitness and nutrition professional, you’ve probably received hundreds of inquiries from clients in pursuit of fat loss. But how confident are you in your ability to guide them in the right direction?

Join Coach Sohee and her team as they break down the current research on intentional dieting and share their expertise about coaching fat loss clients with a critical yet compassionate eye.

During this webinar, you’ll learn:

  • what the research actually says on the topic
  • how to determine if a client is ready for fat loss
  • how to address client pushback with grace and compassion
  • how to identify and prescribe impactful behavior goals
  • how to identify and navigate cognitive distortions as a fitness coach

This webinar is designed for fitness and nutrition coaches, but it is not exclusive! Anyone interested in learning more about the above skills is welcome to join us.

The webinar will span four hours, ending with a live Q&A session with Coaches Sohee, Natalie, Rachel, and Emily.

When: Wednesday February 7, 2024 from 10am-2pm PT / 1pm-5pm ET

Cost: $19 USD until February 1st (price increases to $29 after February 1st)

Here’s a closer look at the topics that will be covered during the webinar:

The Truth About Intentional Fat Loss: What the Research Actually Says | Sohee Carpenter, MS, CSCS*D

Intentional fat loss is a loaded topic with people on both sides of the aisle loudly voicing their opinions about the pros and cons of dieting. Where does the truth lie?

Coach Sohee will walk you through how to cut through the noise and focus on the individual to ensure that the best informed decision can be made with clarity. She’ll cover the importance of body autonomy, what the science actually says about intentional dieting, commonly overlooked variables, and arguments made on both “sides” of fat loss (pro and anti).

When the Timing Isn’t Right: Determining If Your Client Is Ready For Fat Loss | Emily Glynn, RN, CSCS

As a fitness and nutrition professional, it’s likely that many of your prospective clients are focused on fat loss – even when it’s not in their best interests. In this lecture, Coach Emily will review motivational interviewing skills and other practical tools that will help you identify your client’s motives, determine if fat loss is appropriate for them, and deliver your recommendations with confidence.

Individualizing, Refining, & Troubleshooting Habits with Clients | Natalie Fay, MS, CSCS

One-size-fits-all approaches are too common in fitness coaching. A blanket 1,200 Calories, 10k steps per day, 12-3-30 treadmill workouts, and more are all the rage. Yet do they really help?

In this lecture, Coach Natalie will explore habits and their role in achieving fitness goals, while homing in on the importance of individualizing behaviors to the person. She’ll provide practical strategies for setting behavior goals that truly align with a client’s fitness objectives while taking into consideration their unique circumstances and limitations, and also dive into hands-on strategies to troubleshoot when clients struggle with habit formation.

Navigating Cognitive Distortions in Fitness Coaching | Rachel Pendakur, MA, CSCS*D

Cognitive distortions are patterns of biased thinking that can contribute to negative perceptions and emotions. In this presentation, Coach Rachel will identify common cognitive distortions (such as all-or-nothing thinking, overgeneralization, and emotional reasoning) and discuss how these thought patterns can hinder progress when it comes to health and fitness goals. Rachel will also work through practical strategies and communication techniques to address and challenge these distortions, so you can help to foster a more positive and realistic mindset for clients on their respective fitness journeys.

How will the webinar be streamed?

We will be streaming the webinar via Zoom through a pop-up Facebook group (link to join will be sent out after February 1). This does mean that you will at least temporarily need a Facebook account to attend the event live. If you’d prefer not to be on Facebook, you can watch the recording back when it’s emailed out after the live event.

Do I need to be a fitness or nutrition professional to attend this webinar?

Definitely not! While this event is designed for fitness and nutrition professionals, anyone interested in the subject matter is welcome and encouraged to attend.

What if I can’t attend live?

Everyone who registers for the webinar will receive a recording of the entire event (including the Q&A) regardless of whether or not they are able to attend live. Please allow 48 hours for the full recording to be sent out via email, and be sure to check your spam folder in case it ends up in there!

Will I be able to ask questions during the lectures?

If you’re attending the event live in the pop-up Facebook group, you’ll be able to leave comments and questions on the livestream in real time, and we’ll do our best to address them as we go. Otherwise, we will circle back during the Q&A at the end of the webinar.
